2022 Award categories

Editor of the year

Editor of the Year will be presented to the editor who has demonstrated the best leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and creativity in covering business travel and meetings & events news and stories.

Editorial Team of the Year

Editorial Team of the Year will be presented to the editorial team that provided the most insightful and in-depth analysis in covering business travel and meetings & events stories, bringing new topics and perspectives to the fore while provoking debate on key issues within the travel industry.

Best Newcomer

Presented to the journalist with three years' experience or less who conveys business travel and/or meetings and events issues in the most compelling and accurate manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Accommodation

Presented to the journalist who has provided the most insightful analysis and commentary on business travel or meetings & events related accommodation topics in a compelling and creative manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Air

Presented to the journalist who has provided the most insightful analysis and commentary on aviation topics in a compelling and creative manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Ground Transportation

Presented to the journalist who has provided the most insightful analysis and commentary on ground transportation related topics in a compelling and creative manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Destination 

Presented to the journalist who has provided the most insightful analysis and commentary on a business travel and/or conference and incentive destination in a compelling and creative manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Technology

Presented to the journalist who has provided the most insightful analysis and commentary on travel technology and innovation related topics in a compelling and creative manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Industry Trends

Presented to the journalist who has demonstrated the most insightful analysis and commentary on trends within the business travel industry in a compelling and creative manner.

Feature Journalist of the Year – Meetings & Events

Presented to the journalist who has provided the most insightful analysis and commentary on meetings & events related topics in a compelling and creative manner.

New media

Presented to the journalist or team who have embraced new mediums of communication and provided the best and most creative initiatives to convey business travel related news, insights and perspectives. This can include, but not limited to, podcasts, vlogs and other online media.

Special award: Best Contribution to Business Travel Journalism

Presented to the journalist that clearly demonstrated a continuous drive to deliver high quality business travel articles interspersed with factual knowledge, in-depth analysis and creative perspectives.

General Information and Terms

  • Work submitted must have been published between September 2021 – August 2022 in print or online, or if broadcast, aired on TV, radio or online.
  • There is no restriction as to how many categories you can enter, as long as the categories are relevant to the entry.
  • Entrants will be required to put their name and title of publication (when required) on the submission form.
  • The winners will be selected by a judging panel of industry experts, business owners and respected journalists.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
  • Entry to the awards signifies your acceptance of all terms and conditions as stipulated.
  • The closing date for entries is 30 August, 2022.
